Fir Vale, Sheffield
Situated just a few miles from the centre of Sheffield, Fir Vale is a vibrant place made up of many cultures, ages and backgrounds. With a mix of schools, shops, churches and mosques there is a lot going on in Fir Vale!
We are passionate about celebrating all the great things about the area we live in, blessing the people who live here with us and supporting other organisations and people working for the good of the community.
At the same time, we want to demonstrate to people a faith that is exciting, relevant and accessible and through our words and actions help people to meet Jesus for themselves.
Eden Fir Vale started at the beginning of September 2011 and is a new and exciting project.
Baking cakes with the neighbours, kicking a ball around in the street, and simply saying hi to people whilst we are out and about are just some of the ways we are starting to join in with the community here.
The Eden team are currently building links with local people and organisations and have begun offering support with lessons in a local school. They are aiming to invest in and establish projects and activities that can equip and enable young people to make the most of their lives and their communities and are also involved with city wide youth initiatives.
The partnering church for this Eden Project is St Thomas Crookes. Situated just a few miles from Fir Vale, it is a vibrant, growing church with a vision and passion to see communities flourish.
