Hattersley, Manchester
Built in the 1960s as a manchester overspill housing estate and situated on the edge of the peak district, Hattersley experiences high levels of deprivation associated with urban areas whilst struggling with the isolation often found in rural communities.
Despite these problems there is a fantastic sense of community in Hattersley; people are loyal, friendly and once you are accepted as part of the community they are very supportive.
Our mission statement best describes our vision; “Eden Hattersley exists to be an example to young people by sharing God’s love, serving and showing respect towards God and each other through long-term friendship built on a personal relationship with God.”
By impacting the young people in this way we hope to have a transformational affect on whole families and the wider community.
We have a wide-ranging program designed to reach young people wherever they are at including an open access and outdoor sport program, youth club and Kidz Klub. We focus on building relationships and basic clear proclamation of the Gospel. We then offer cell groups and mentoring for those young people who want to move on with God. The team work hard balancing their dedication to the project, work lives and commitment to their families. We all feel that God has called us to be here; one of our key verses Hattersley] so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.” We have now transitioned to the name ‘Life Centre Hattersley’ as part of the Eden Network, offering an increased range of youth engagement activites.
